Green jade does not describe one identical shade or texture. When choosing jewellery online, distinguish what a photograph shows, what the product description says, and what has actually been established about the material. A variation note can help set expectations, but it should not replace clear answers about the piece you are considering.
Colour and Texture Are Different Questions
GIA's guide to jadeite discusses colour, transparency and texture as separate characteristics. Green jadeite can have different undertones, and its colour can be even or mottled. Texture relates to the material's structure; it is not simply another word for its shade. GIA also describes examining jadeite under different light sources. GIA: Jadeite Jade Quality Factors.
Those are general observations about jadeite, not an identification or quality assessment of any LVY FOREST stone. An educational guide cannot establish the species, treatment history or grade of the item in a product photograph.
Compare Photos Without Asking Them to Prove Everything
Start with the design details you can identify: the shape of the centrepiece, the setting and how the colours work together. Then list the details that remain unclear. A useful question is more specific than "Will it look exactly like this?"
For example, you might ask whether the photographs show the particular item supplied or are reference images for the design. If a precise shade matters to you, ask whether additional photographs or a description are available. This is a suggested question, not a promise that every seller provides item-specific photography or colour selection.
Avoid using a dramatic photograph as evidence of a material claim. Decide separately whether you like the appearance and whether the written material information meets your needs.
Read the Actual Variation Note
Our Jade Clover Ring description lists a green jade centrepiece and a gold-plated copper band. It also says that pieces may vary slightly in colour and texture. Read that alongside the design details, rather than expecting every stone to match one reference photograph exactly.
The note does not establish a particular mineral species, an untreated classification or a laboratory certification. It also does not say that every possible difference is acceptable. Keep an unanswered question unanswered until the retailer can clarify it.
Three Useful Questions
Can I choose a particular shade?
Check the listing and ask the retailer. Do not assume that a general variation note offers a colour-selection service.
Does a colour difference tell me the stone's grade?
Do not assign a grade from a photograph or from how closely two pieces match. A visual preference and a supported material claim are different things.
What if the piece I receive raises a concern?
Describe what you observe and contact the seller. Do not automatically label an unexpected mark as natural variation, damage or treatment from an online image alone. Keep the product name and relevant description available when asking for clarification.
